Unfortunate Messaging

In order to save a couple of bucks I cancelled my “Unlimited Messaging Plan”. Specially now that I am using Google Voice.
I use a lot the IM features (MSN/AIM/gTalk) though. Little did I know that the IM application that comes by default in Android connects to MSN using the SMS protocol. Today I got this surprise: $40 in SMS messages added to my monthly bill.
I instantly installed meebo.
For all Android users out there, be aware: Android’s default IM application connects to MSN using the SMS protocol.
Paying 40 bucks for something that’s free hurts a lot.
Dwang! The Fastest Android ROM so far.
After using several ROMs in my Android device (HTC’s Magic) I have come to this conclusion: Dwang 1.17.1 is the fastest and most stable ROM so far.
It includes the basic applications and tweaks that almost every moded ROM have like:
- Compcache
- Root (duh!)
- Tether (usb/wireless)
- 10Mb RAM hack
- 5 screen home
Go to XDA-developers to get it and remember to backup before any flash!

BTW, I am using Slide Screen instead of the Android home… it is very useful!
